Lesch-Nyhan

Lesch-Nyhan involves the partial or complete absence of HGPRTase, leading to excessive levels of uric acid in the serum and urine. This is further exacerbated by the increased intensity of purine nucleotide synthesis, resulting in more degradation products (uric acid). This causes neurological problems, muscle spasms, and self-mutilation.
