The nitrogen balance is a tough balance to keep. The body wants to keep the nitrogen because we are not able to use it from the air. The transamination reaction means that the amine group from an amino acid goes towards another molecule (ketoacid2), which results in another amino acid (amino acid 2), and another keto acid (keto acid1) (Figure 1).
