The succinyl-CoA pathway is responsible for the degradation of essential amino acids, resulting in the formation of succinyl-CoA, which can then be used in the TCA cycle.

Description

Succinyl-CoA pathway degrades the following amino acids:

  • Methionine
  • Threonine
  • Valine
  • Isoleucine

These amino acids have glucogenic features, but their degradation occurs through a lipid-like degradation.

The end result is succinyl-CoA, which can then be used in the TCA cycle.
