Definition
The term is used for the description of abnormal contents within the pleura of the lung, usually accompanied by tissue damage.
General mechanism
Recall that apart from a few mL of pleural fluid, the pleural space is supposed to be empty.
Pneumothorax
- Gas within the pleural cavity
