An inflammatory disorder that usually precedes the development of cardiomyopathy.
- Asymptomatic
- Usually associated viral infections (Coxsackie A and B)
- Can also be associated with parasites (trypanosoma), drug hypersensitivity (giant cells), and the effect of certain drugs (chemotherapy, cocaine)
