The external male genitalia includes the penis and scrotum.
Penis
The penis is an erectile tissue used for intercourse and urination.
Layers
- Skin
- The skin of the penis is very thin and does not contain fat
- The skin fold covering the glans is known as prepuce (foreskin)
- Superficial fascia (dartos fascia)
- Deep fascia (Buck’s fascia)
- Tunica albuginea
Underneath the skin, we have the superficial neurovasculature (one dorsal vein, 2 arteries, and 2 nerves); underneath the superficial fascia, lie the deep vessels (dorsal vein, and 2 arteries).
