Penis

The penis is an erectile tissue used for intercourse and urination.

Layers

  1. Skin
    • The skin of the penis is very thin and does not contain fat
    • The skin fold covering the glans is known as prepuce (foreskin)
  2. Superficial fascia (dartos fascia)
  3. Deep fascia (Buck’s fascia)
  4. Tunica albuginea

Underneath the skin, we have the superficial neurovasculature (one dorsal vein, 2 arteries, and 2 nerves); underneath the superficial fascia, lie the deep vessels (dorsal vein, and 2 arteries).
