The ankle joint
The ankle joint (also known as the talocrural articulation), is a hinge-type synovial joint formed by a malleolar mortise (tibia and fibula) that articulates with pulley-shaped trochlea (talus) located at the distal ends of the tibia and fibula, superior to the talus.
Movements.The ankle joint allows the following movements:
- Dorsiflexion.
- Plantarflexion.
- Abduction.
- Adduction
- Inversion.
- Eversion.
