Mucosal atrophy, with loss of crypts<\/li><li>Epithelial metaplasia<\/li><li>Paneth cell metaplasia in the descending colon<\/li><li><strong>Noncaseating granulomas<\/strong> &#8211; metastatic Crohn disease<ul><li>HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CANCER!<\/li><li>Present in 35% of patients, its absence doesn&#8217;t exclude Crohn&#8217;s<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_2\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Ulcerative colitis<\/h4>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_2\">\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Always involves the rectum and extends to the sigmoid and above it<ul><li>ulcerative proctitis or ulcerative proctosigmoiditis &#8212; when limited<\/li><li>backwash ileitis &#8212; when reaches ileum<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>No &#8220;skip lesions&#8221;<\/li><li>broad-based ulcers, usually limited to mucosa only<\/li><li>pseudopolyps &#8212;
