Takes place between the two orbital cavities, at the roof of the nasal cavity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The ethmoid bone consists of three parts: a cribriform plate (1), a perpendicular plate (1), and an ethmoidal labyrinth (2).<\/li><li>Forms part of the medial wall of the orbit and the anterior cranial fossa.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The perpendicular plate is characterized by containing sinuses and contributes to the nasal septum and lateral nasal wall.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone shapes the roof of the nasal cavity, where several olfactory nerve fibers pierce it to find their way to the nasal cavity.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Superiorly to the cribriform plate is the crista Galli, an attachment point for the falx cerebri.<\/li><li>The two ethmoidal labyrinths are located at each side of the perpendicular plate.<\/li><li>The ethmoid bone articulates in total with 13 bones:&nbsp;<ul><li>Paired: lacrimal bones, nasal bones, maxillae, palatine bones, inferior conchae.<\/li><li>Unpaired: frontal, vomer, and sphenoid bones.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_1\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Ethmoidal labyrinth<\/h3>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_1\">\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It contains the ethmoidal air cells <ul><li>It is consists of <ul><li>Lateral (orbital) plate or (Paryraceous lamina) <\/li><li>Medial (nasal) lamina <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Contains <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Superior nasal concha<\/li><li>Middle nasal concha&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/span><div id=\"the_titles\" style=\"display:none;\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ethmoidal labyrinth<\/h3><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ethmoid bone is a small unpaired bone situated in the center of the anterior cranium.
