At the same time, these bone structures configure the roof of the orbits. This bowl-shaped area supports the anterior and inferior regions of the frontal lobes. The anterior cranial fossa is the <strong>shallowest region<\/strong> of the base of the skull.<\/p>\n\n\n<span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_1\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Bones<\/h4>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_1\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following bones constitute the anterior fossa:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Frontal bone (anterior part)<\/li><li>Ethmoid bone (middle part)<\/li><li>The body and lesser wings of the sphenoid bone (posterior part)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_2\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Landmarks<\/h4>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_2\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following structures can be found within the anterior cranial fossa:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sinus impressions<\/li><li>Crista galli<\/li><li>Foramen cecum<\/li><li>Cribriform plate and foramina<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>sinus impressions<\/strong> are surface imprints of the frontal lobe, specifically from the orbital gyri.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>crista galli <\/strong>(from Latin: <em>crest of the rooster<\/em>) is a bony process located posterior to the foramen cecum, which together with the cribriform plate of the ethmoid (located on each side of the crest), forms openings through which fibers of the olfactory nerves (CN I) emerge.<\/p>\n<\/span><div id=\"the_titles\" style=\"display:none;\"><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bones<\/h4><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Landmarks<\/h4><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The orbital segments of the frontal bone form the majority of the anterior fossa.
