The posterior compartment of the forearm is predominantly supplied by branches of the radial<\/strong>, anterior <\/strong>and posterior interosseous arteries<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/span>\n The radial artery <\/strong>gives rise to muscular branches that supply the extensor muscles on the radial aspect of the forearm. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/span>\n The posterior interosseous artery <\/strong>originates from the common interosseous branch of the ulnar artery in the anterior compartment of the forearm. It then passes posterior to the proximal margin of the interosseous membrane and enters the posterior compartment of the forearm. It terminates by joining the dorsal carpal arch of the wrist. The posterior interosseous artery gives off a recurrent interosseous artery <\/strong>that passes between the supinator and the abductor pollicis longus muscles and supplies the superficial extensors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Similarly, the anterior interosseous artery <\/strong>originates as a branch of the common interosseous branch of the ulnar artery. It travels in the anterior compartment of the forearm and terminates by joining the posterior interosseous artery through a distal aperture in the interosseous membrane. The anterior interosseous artery gives off numerous branches that pass directly through the interosseous membrane to supply the deep muscles of the posterior compartment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Perforating veins<\/strong> are superficial veins found in the posterior compartment of the forearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The deep<\/strong> veins <\/strong>of the forearm arise from the anastomosis between the deep venous palmar arch of the hand and course along with the corresponding radial and ulnar arteries of the forearm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The posterior compartment of the forearm is innervated by the radial<\/strong> nerve<\/strong>, giving rise to the deep<\/strong> and superficial<\/strong> branches at the lateral wall of the cubital fossa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The deep branch originates deep to the brachioradialis muscle and becomes the posterior interosseous nerve<\/strong> upon its emergence between the superficial and deep layers of the supinator muscle. The deep branch innervates the extensor carpi radialis brevis and the supinator and courses around the proximal shaft of the radius and posterior aspect of the forearm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The posterior interosseous nerve <\/strong>innervates the remaining muscles in the posterior compartment and terminates as the articular branches, passing deep to the extensor pollicis longus muscles and reaching the wrist.<\/p>\n<\/span>Radial artery<\/h4>\n<\/span>\n\n\n
