This is further exacerbated by the increased intensity of purine nucleotide synthesis, resulting in more degradation products (uric acid). This causes neurological problems, muscle spasms, and self-mutilation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The disease is not curable. Usually, patients die from kidney failure.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_2\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Gout<\/h2>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_2\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Increase in uric acid levels due to reduced excretion (kidney problems) or more active de novo purine synthesis (recall that uric acid is the degradation product of purines).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This may be due to increased PRPP synthase activity, decreased HGPRTase function, or G-6-PAH deficiency. Treated with allopurinol and colchicine.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_3\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Immunodeficiency<\/h2>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_3\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The absence of adenosine deaminase (ADA): The lack of adenosine deaminase results in a severe immune deficiency condition that may damage T and B cells.
