Essential amino acids<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following amino acids are essential (or conditionally essential):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>aromatic amino acids:\u00a0<strong>PHE, TYR, TRP;<\/strong><\/li><li>branched-chain amino acids:\u00a0<strong>LEU, VAL, ILE, THR;<\/strong><\/li><li>sulfur-containing amino acids:\u00a0<strong>MET, CYS;<\/strong><\/li><li>basic amino acids:\u00a0<strong>LYS, HIS, ARG<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_2\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Non-essential amino acids<\/h2>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_2\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nonessential amino acids are those that can be synthesized from metabolic precursors in the body while essential amino acids are those that must be supplied in the diet.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_3\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Conditionally essential amino acids<\/h2>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_3\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on the composition of the amino acids&nbsp;<strong>MET<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>CYS<\/strong>&nbsp;is essential for the proper biological processes like protein synthesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Arginine<\/strong> is synthesized by mammalian tissues<\/li><li><strong>Cysteine<\/strong> can be synthesized from methionine<\/li><li><strong>Tyrosine<\/strong> can be synthesized from phenylalanine<\/li><li><strong>Histidine<\/strong> is essential for infants<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other conditionally essential amino acids are&nbsp;<strong>GLY, GLN,&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>PRO<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Essentiality may also occur at the cellular (tissue) level (e.g. for&nbsp;<strong>ASN, GLN, ARG<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_4\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">References<\/h2>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_4\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S<span style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">nider MDS.
