<\/a>Description<\/h4>\n<\/span>\n\n\nThe cardiac plexus can be divided into superficial<\/strong> and deep cardiac plexus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span>\nSperficial cardiac plexus<\/h4>\n<\/span>\n\n\nThe superficial cardiac plexus resides below the arch of the aorta, in front of the right pulmonary artery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is formed by the superior cervical cardiac branch of the left <\/strong>sympathetic trunk<\/strong>and the inferior cardiac branch <\/strong>of the left <\/strong>vagus nerve.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<\/span>\nDeep cardiac plexus<\/h4>\n<\/span>\n\n\nThe deep cardiac plexus is located in front of the bifurcation of the trachea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Forms both the sympathetic and the parasympathetic fibers to the heart<\/li>
- Formed by the cardiac nerves derived from the cervical ganglia of the sympathetic trunk<\/strong>, and the cardiac branches <\/strong>of the vagus, <\/strong>and recurrent laryngeal nerves<\/strong><\/li>
- It carries visceral afferent fibers conveying pain sensation and reflexive fibers from the heart<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Despite the innervation by the autonomic nervous system, the heart has its own intrinsic and autonomic innervation<\/strong>, this, in fact, makes heart transplantation to occur successfully because until today there is no way to connect nerves fibers to an organ.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span>\nOrigin<\/h3>\n<\/span>\n\n<\/span>\nSympathetic<\/h4>\n<\/span>\n\n\n- Superior 5-6 thoracic segments<\/strong> of the spinal cord give rise to the presynaptic fibers<\/strong><\/li>
