After the removal of this group with the help of transamination reaction<br>(GPT = Glutamate Pyruvate transaminase \u2014 later in <a href=\"https:\/\/meddists.com\/learn\/pre-clinical\/biochemistry\/biochemistry-of-the-metabolism\/amino-acid-metabolism\/mechanism-of-transamination\/\">Amino acid metabolism<\/a>), the alanine is now formed back into pyruvate in the <strong>liver<\/strong>, where <strong>gluconeogenesis<\/strong>&nbsp;can begin (<strong>Figure 1<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The essential role of the reaction is to supply \u201ceasy to use molecules\u201d for gluconeogenesis.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This reaction is also catalyzed at rest; for example, when you are sitting in the library and studying biochemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The skeletal muscle supplies the amino acids for the reaction, and the hunger signal by glucagon will initiate the gluconeogenesis to produce glucose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the reason why it is easier to lose muscle weight rather than adipose tissue when going on a diet.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_2\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">References<\/h2>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_2\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S<span style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">nider MDS.
