underneath the superficial fascia, lie the deep vessels (dorsal vein, and 2 arteries).<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_3\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title2\">Ligaments<\/h4>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_3\">\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The&nbsp;<strong>fundiform ligament<\/strong>&nbsp;is a superficial extension of Scarpa\u2019s fascia extending from the linea alba of the abdomen to the dorsum and sides of the penile skin<\/li><li>The&nbsp;<strong>suspensory ligament<\/strong>&nbsp;is a deep ligament attaching the base of the penis to the pubic symphysis, helping anchor the penis and supporting it during erection<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_4\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title2\">Contents<\/h4>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_4\">\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Inside each corpus, we have a deep artery that supplies it from the internal pudendal artery and branches off to helicine arteries that fill the cavernae with blood<\/li><li>The penis consists of 3 components \u2013 two<strong>&nbsp;corpi cavernosi<\/strong>&nbsp;(singular: corpus&nbsp;cavernosum), and one&nbsp;<strong>corupus spongiosum<\/strong><ul><li>The corpus spongiosum makes the glans penis, with the coronal sulcus at the attachment onto the corpi cavernosi<\/li><li>The three corpi contain special cavarnae which fill with blood during an erection<\/li><li>They are covered by a thick connective tissue layer known as&nbsp;<strong>tunica albuginea<\/strong>&nbsp;which doesn\u2019t allow expansion and increases the pressure leading to an erection<ul><li>The corpus spongiosum contains the urethra, therefore its tunica albuginea is much thinner to allow the passage of semen during erection<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>In terms of the position, we determine it based on an erect penis \u2014 the corpi cavernosi are dorsal and the corpus spongiosum is ventral; this position is the agreed one even though it is reversed when the penis is flaccid<\/li><li>Right before the urethra terminates, it forms a slight dilation known as the&nbsp;<strong>navicular fossa<\/strong>, which contains the&nbsp;<strong>lacuna magna<\/strong>, the largest of many crypts formed in the urethra<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"attachment_19187\"><a href=\"https:\/\/meddists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/penis.png\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"External male genitalia\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meddists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/penis-442x600.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19187\"\/><\/a><figcaption><strong>Internal anatomy of the penis<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_5\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title1\">Scrotum<\/h3>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_5\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scrotum covers and holds the testicles.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span><span class=\"block-heading\" id=\"header_6\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"title_collection title2\">Layers<\/h4>\n<\/span><span class=\"block-content\" id=\"contents_6\">\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The layers of the scrotum include the skin and superficial (dartos) fascia only;
