{"id":1560,"date":"2020-08-14T01:39:06","date_gmt":"2020-08-14T01:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/meddists.com\/learn\/pre-clinical\/medical-genetics\/bacterial-genetics\/transformation\/"},"modified":"2020-12-25T00:45:48","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T22:45:48","slug":"transformation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/meddists.com\/learn\/pre-clinical\/medical-genetics\/bacterial-genetics\/transformation\/","title":{"rendered":"Transformation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div class=\"intro\">Transformation is a method of genetic exchange where the bacteria takes up foreign DNA from the environment and incoporates it into its own DNA.<\/div><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ability of a bacteria cell to take up foreign DNA across the plasma membrane is known as competence and cells that have this ability are known as <strong>competent cells<\/strong>.
