The nuchal region is a small, triangular region found posteriorly between the neck and the base of the skull.<\/div><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  4. Splenius capitis muscle<\/li>
  5. Semispinalis capitis muscle<\/li>
  6. Deep nuchal fascia<\/li>
  7. Deep neck muscles (of the suboccipital triangle)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The skin is innervated by the lesser occipital nerve <\/strong>(a branch of the cervical plexus), greater occipital nerve<\/strong> (a dorsal branch of the 2nd spinal nerve), and third occipital nerve <\/strong>(a dorsal branch of the 3rd spinal nerve).<\/p>\n\n\n<\/span>\n

      The structures of the suboccipital triangle are also said to be within the nuchal region:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
