  1. proteins that are biological catalysts
  2. accelerate chemical or biochemical reactions
  3. molecules at which the enzymes act are called substrates
  4. enzymes convert substrates into products

  1. composed of amino acids
  2. have protein-like features
  3. can be denaturated
  4. have primary/secondary/tertiary/quaternary structures
